WH Ladies make history in International Padel Event!

West Hants Club (Bournemouth) v Duva Padel Club (Puerto Pollenca)
On the 11th & 12th June a Ladies Padel team travelled to Mallorca to represent West Hants in an International Ladies Padel Tournament against the Spanish Ladies Team in Puerto Pollenca.
Captained by Sue, the team consisting of Helen, Jill, Vik, Bev, Fleur, Rachael, Caroline, & Sue, created history in the town by being the first ever visiting Ladies English team to play a tournament there.
“The Spanish were wonderful hosts who welcomed us to their amazing Padel club, Club Duva”, said Sue, “and with 5 courts to play on we didn’t know which one to choose first! After a practice on the Friday evening the main event took place on the Saturday evening albeit in 31 degrees of heat!
“It was very competitive (and very hot!) but we all played really well with all the teams playing close matches, however in the end we were beaten 3-1”, explained Sue.
She continued, “Helen & Jill were the victorious ones who did us proud by beating their Spanish opponents 2-0 with a thrilling last set finishing 7-6 in a tie break!”
The club then put on a wonderful meal followed by presentations of trophies whilst we presented in return a commemorative Padel bat to them.
Sue ended by saying that they had the most amazing time and couldn’t have felt more welcome by the club and the Spanish ladies and have been invited to play against them again next year which, of course, they have said a resounding yes to!
