For the second year in a row a team of ladies Padel players travelled to Mallorca to play an International Padel Tennis Tournament against the Spanish, from 9th-12th June.

The team of 10, captained by Sue Hurd included Vik, Emma, Caroline, Bev, Fleur, Rachael, Jill, Helen, & Meina.

“Another amazing weekend which ended with a victorious West Hants team winning 4-1”,  explained a thrilled Sue.

“Having been beaten last year by the strong Spanish ladies team we went in to the tournament this year primed, practiced and determined to come out the winners!”

In a sweltering heat of 28 degrees each match played was 2 sets with a tie break at 1 game all. During each game if it got to deuce then it was ‘golden point‘ meaning the next point won that game.

Some very tense moments and brilliant rallies made for a competitive tournament enjoyed by everyone.

As last year Padel vests were exchanged along with a commemorative Padel Bat from the West Hants team presented to the Spanish team which now takes pride of place in the Duva Club besides last year’s one.

After the tournament a delicious meal once again was served by the club during which speeches were made and trophies were presented.

“We couldn’t have felt more welcomed once more by the organisers and players of the club” said Sue, “and have come away again this year having made some wonderful friends”.

Well done West Hants ladies!
