8th September
Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain
The West Hants Men's team had a tough but enjoyable experience at the Team Tennis National Open Finals held at West Hants. On Thursday evening captain Andy Phillips was presented with the South West Group winners trophy and the team settled down for the weekend's draw. Unfortunately West Hants were put against The Roehampton Club, who were seeded 1 and went on to win the event.
Piers Farhang, Toby Samuel and James Whike lost their matches in straight sets although Adam Glynn had an epic battle with Adam Thornton Brown, narrowly losing in 3 sets.
On to Saturday's playback v The Northern Club where Adam and Toby picked up singles wins and losses for Ryan and Andy meant the home club were level at 2-2. An excellent doubles win for Toby and Ryan at 1 and a close loss for Adam and Ben Battey meant the match was 3-3. The tie break shootout to decide the winners was of the highest quality and could of gone either way, unfortunately West Hants went down 2-1. Lots of positives to take from the event and a good achievement finishing in the top 8 of the country.

Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain (they finished top of the table - congratulations!)
West Hants Men pulled off a fantastic win in our final top of the table clash at North Oxford LTC. A courageous win at number 1 for Ben who competed for over 3 hours and straight set wins for Piers and Luca left us 3-1 up after singles.
Having the trump card of Toby to join in the doubles, who kindly stopped off on his way up to Nottingham to compete in a junior ITF tournament helped tremendously and we secured both doubles wins to finish 5-1 winners.
This now means we will compete at our Club in September in the finals where the top 8 team nationally compete for the top spot, a fantastic achievement.

Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain
West Hants mens team got back to winning ways with a 5-1 home win against Milton Keynes. With singles wins for Toby Samuel, Andy Phillips and Luca Mcmanus and a close 3 set loss for Ryan Golesworthy. Needing one win out of the doubles to secure victory, West Hants won both in straight sets which meant moving up to second place in the league.
Our final match on June 23rd is at North Oxford LTC who are currently top, in a match that will decide the overall winners of the league.
4th June
Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain
West Hants men couldn't capitalise on their match at Wimborne. Due to the rain and a lack of indoor courts at Wimborne the match was abandoned at 1-1 and the two teams shared the points.
This Sunday at home to Milton Keynes is where West Hants men need to win with maximum points and push up the league.
(Congratulations to Team Captain Andy who won the British Clay Court Seniors Title last weekend too! Read more...)
12th May

Next home match is June 2nd against league leaders, Halton. Support would be gratefully received!
Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain
West Hants men came unstuck at Halton in one of the toughest away fixtures on Sunday. Losing the match 5-1 meant the team drop to 3rd place in the league. There was good fight from the team but will be needing a comfortable win in our next match at Wimborne on June 2nd to keep our qualification dream alive.
14th April
Match Report by Jane Bingham, Ladies Team Captain
The womens team lost a heartbreaking tiebreak shoot out on Sunday at Taunton. 2 of the 3 time breaks had match points to seal the tie for the visitors, but on a freezing cold windy day, it wasn't to be. Fortunately, the next 3 matches will be at home starting May 12th.
Match Report by Andy Phillips, Men's Team Captain
West Hants men won their 2nd match of the season 4-2 against Winchester at home on Sunday 14th April. This leaves them top of the South West Division in the National Open.
Singles wins for James Whike, Andy Phillips and Luca Mcmanus left them needing one rubber from the remaining 2 doubles matches for victory. This was done in a straightforward manner by James Whike and doubles specialist Ben Battey.
A tough day for Ryan Golesworthy who made his debut at number 1 but is sure to be a great asset for the team in the coming matches.
