The weather is cooling but there is plenty happening inside the Club!
An update on our second tennis court bubble
Tennis players will have spotted one of our bubbles is up for the winter months ahead. After irreparable storm damage to our second bubble earlier this year, a new bubble is coming from Belgium. We have been told it will arrive this month and it will be erected upon delivery.
Team Tennis News
On the subject of tennis, we were pleased to host the National Team Tennis Finals last month and enjoyed offering home crowd support to our Ladies Team! After many years on the team, and several as Captain, Jane Bingham is stepping down from her role and we would like to take this opportunity to thank her for the time and energy she has spent with our team. We welcome Amelia and Annie who are now joint Team Captains.
More thanks go to Nick Matthew OBE, one of the best squash players of all time, who spent a sell-out day with us on 1st October hosting Junior sessions, playing in an exhibition match, followed by a ticketed dinner and Q&A session. What a privilege to witness his talent, have his company and advice. We would also like to draw attention to young Jonah Bryant who is one to watch in the future!
Volunteers required - do you have an hour to spare on Mondays at 1.30pm?
Winchelsea School is a local special community school who meet the needs of children with a wide range of learning difficulties. We are working with them to deliver a weekly tennis coaching session to some of their pupils at the Club. The session will run every Monday, from 1.30pm-2.30pm. The team are looking for volunteers so if you can spare any time or would like to find out more, please click here to email us. No experience is necessary and we are appreciative of any time you can give.
