Padel Update
In a previous newsletter I notified all members that we have received planning permission to build two new padel courts on clay court 9 and I am now notifying all members of the timescales and how the courts will be financed.
- Timescale
The Club will issue tender documents in early November with the contract being awarded in early January.
Construction will start in February with completion by end of May (depending on weather).
The build will include the resurfacing of our existing courts with acoustic glass fencing as suggested in the planning meeting.
- Financing
The Club continues to recover after covid and the utility crisis, but we need to build suitable reserves to maintain existing facilities.
The padel courts are additional facilities and as such I feel should be financed separately. I am pleased to report that the Board have approved the option of selling a five-year membership which will be discounted and represents good value.
The Club has already attracted new members who are joining for padel, and it is felt the membership will grow as the courts are completed.
The courts will be available for use free of charge within the Full membership category.
If you are interested in purchasing a five-year membership please register your interest with Sandra Edwards via email at sandra.edwards@westhants.co.uk and you will be forwarded an application pack.
The application pack will outline all the details but please note that membership will be restricted in number and allocated on a first come first served basis when the funds are received.
I am aware that losing clay court 9 is disappointing but I have tried for several years to gain planning permission in other areas. It is in a central location on the site, and I feel it will be hugely beneficial to the long-term future of the club and maintain our status as a leading rackets club.
Creche Closure
It is with reluctance that the creche closed on October 25th. The attendances were declining and with the changes in childcare vouchers the decline would continue.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking both Helen and Margaret who provided a great service.
Reformer Pilates
I have received many requests for reformer Pilates, and I am pleased to announce that we will be converting the creche into a Pilates reformer studio. It is anticipated the work will be finalised by the end of December and ready for use in early January.
This will be a great addition to our fitness offering and it is anticipated that it will be well used.
Further details will be announced at a later date regarding the timetable and pricing.
Pay & Play - a change to bookings
Please note, from 4th November 2024, payment will be required at time of booking to secure your place for any of the Adult or Junior Pay & Play racket sessions. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
Membership cards
May we politely remind members to use their membership cards on every visit at arrival. This is helpful for us to track usage along with health & safety reasons plus we will have a record of you attending your pre-booked courts/classes thus avoiding appearing on any "no-show" reports. Thank you to those members who support our Reception Team by using their card when they visit.
If you have lost your card, please remember our Reception Team can happily arrange a new card.
Thank you
Thank you for your continued support. Please remember, if you have any feedback to share, please complete a form at Reception or click here to email us. Please remember to check our website's News & Events pages for all the latest Club updates.
Best wishes,
Peter D Elviss
